The Accuracy Suite.
All 246 checks, published.

Every build runs this suite before it ships. Miss one, nothing ships. Here's the whole thing — including the checks where the only right answer is "I don't know," and the ones that exist to catch the engine saying that when it shouldn't.

Part 1 — Find the right source 199 checks

Plain-language questions, the way people actually ask them. Pass: the engine retrieves the correct OSHA section or official interpretation letter in its top results. Several were added after a live build got one wrong — every miss becomes a permanent case.

Part 2 — Retrieve the decisive words 17 checks

Getting the right section number isn't enough. For these, the retrieved passage has to contain the actual trigger language — “4 feet” — not just point at the rule that contains it. Added after a build named the right section but buried the number.

The questionRetrieved text must contain

Part 3 — Answer when the answer is there 12 checks

The mirror image of Part 4 below, and the more embarrassing failure of the two. These are messy, hard recordkeeping scenarios that the standards do cover. Pass: the engine retrieves the framework and does not flag low confidence — so it has both the material and the permission to actually answer. Added after a live build refused a question about an unwitnessed injury and suggested consulting a compliance officer, which is a non-answer when the person asking is the compliance officer.

The questionRequired behavior
An employee’s written statement says they were hurt at 2:15. Video for the half hour either side keeps them in frame the whole time and they are never injured. Is it recordable?must answeron the 29 CFR 1904 framework
Employee reported a back strain three days after the shift it supposedly happened on and nobody saw it. Do I have to record it?must answeron the 29 CFR 1904 framework
Two employees give completely different accounts of the same incident. How do I decide what goes on the log?must answeron the 29 CFR 1904 framework
Our clinic says light duty, the employee’s own doctor says no restrictions. Which one drives the 300 log?must answeron the 29 CFR 1904 framework
An employee refuses to wear the PPE we provided. What does OSHA require of me?must answeron the 29 CFR 1910.132 framework

An employee won’t tell us how the injury happened. Do we still have to record it?must answeron the 29 CFR 1904 framework

Part 4 — Know what you don't know 12 checks

Questions outside Canary's sources. Pass: the engine flags low confidence and says so rather than manufacturing something. A compliance tool that guesses here is worse than no tool at all.

Part 5 — Survive the absurd hypothetical 6 checks

Every product gets the ridiculous question eventually. The joke can't shake the engine loose from the real rules — it still has to find the sources underneath.

The questionMust retrieve
Employee on break forgot to clock out, ran from a bear into the road, hit by a bus the bear then boarded — recordable for the passengers the bear ate, the employee, or nobody?29 CFR 1904.5

Employee bitten by an escaped zoo kangaroo in our parking lot. Recordable?29 CFR 1904.5
What this suite proves — and what it doesn't. These 246 checks test retrieval: that the engine finds the right official source, surfaces the decisive language, refuses to answer outside its sources, and doesn't refuse inside them. They do not grade every sentence of every finished answer — no automated test can do that, and any page claiming otherwise is selling you something. What catches the rest is real questions: when one exposes a miss, it becomes a permanent check here. The suite started at 25, hit 44, and jumped to 246 in one deliberate expansion — 39 of the new checks failed on first run, and every failure became a fix. It only ever grows. The Ship Log records each time it did.
